Launching A Spooktacular Skating Event

For the first time, Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens transformed into an icy Halloween extravaganza

In October, we launched Scare Skate, a new spooktacular ice rink, which saw monsters and ghostly ghouls descend on Cathedral Gardens for the first time.

Halloween fans and fear-loving families took to the ice in fancy dress for a week of scary chills and thrills, all under the watchful eye of #MonstersInTheCity and the rinks very own green goblin monster which was part of the infamous city wide monster trail.

Carousel created a huge buzz for the arrival of Scare Skate, securing over 30 pieces of coverage, with a combined reach of over 74 million - highlights included coverage in Manchester Evening News, Manchester’s Finest, Secret Manchester and an interview with founder Rob Derry on BBC Radio Manchester. Carousel also handled influencer and press attendees, including Into Trends and Going On An Adventure Blog who joined revellers to enjoy a night of frightful fun.

Following its spooky run, the rink transformed into a winter wonderland - open to the public until early 2022. The Carousel team pushed the news out to press and have secured over 35 pieces of coverage to-date with a combined reach of over 111m and counting.

Carousel is working with Skate Manchester producers Arena on a number of other winter ice rinks across the UK, including The North Pole in Cambridge, Liverpool Ice Festival and Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink. National press highlights to date include iNews, TimeOut and Daily Express.
