Our PR, Digital and Team Highlights for August

August marks another busy month for team Carousel as we come to the end of summer. We ended the festival season with a bang with Victorious in Portsmouth, announced a new development for MediaCity plus a celebrity partnership with Cotton Traders.

#TasteOfFreedom with Freedom Brewery

To spread the word about Britain’s original independent craft lager brewery, Freedom Brewery, we executed an impactful FOC micro-influencer campaign to re-introduce the brewery to select influencers across various categories including; food and drink, outdoors, travel and families.

Freedom Brewery’s strapline is ‘Taste Freedom’ and ties into the brewery’s heritage of breaking away from the category’s norms, so we asked our bank of influencers to showcase their own ‘tastes of freedom’ - something everyone can relate to and which we hoped would therefore make the brand more relatable.

This brief was packaged up in creative mailers which included Freedom Brewery’s hero range; we also kitted the mailers out with everything the influencers need to enjoy their beer with branded bottle openers, coasters and t-shirts.

So far Carousel has secured over 20 pieces of influencer content whilst simultaneously introducing the brand to an audience size of over 250k combined. Stand-out social content includes The Whole World or Nothing, The Bristolian Foodie and JoeHunter_Outdoors.

MediaCity Announces New Bar, 11 Central at Central Bay

The anticipated waterfront drinking and dining destination Central Bay, located in Salford’s MediaCity, has announced the opening of a new bar and microbrewery 11 Central. This 9,000 sq ft bar will overlook Salford’s key landmarks and boasts a capacity of 600 visitors. The site will also offer visitors food, drink, live music, games and waterside views from the terrace.

The team has secured 22 pieces of coverage to date, with a total reach of 130m. Some coverage highlights include Manchester Evening News, Manchester’s Finest, I Love Manchester, The Manc and Profilic North.

Alex Jones X Cotton Traders

Carousel was challenged to create a buzz around the announcement of Cotton Trader’s newest celebrity ambassador, Alex Jones, by selling in the story to key trade and consumer press. Off the back of issuing our release, we secured a total reach of over 1.3m to date with coverage in The Mirror, Retail Sector, Diary Directory, Retail Tech Innovation Hub and Direct Commerce.

Cotton Traders' year-long partnership with Alex Jones sees Alex focus on her favourite stylish looks from Cotton Traders’ Autumn/Winter ’23 and Spring/Summer ’24 seasons. Taking on her first ever fashion collaboration, Alex has hand-picked her favourite pieces from Cotton Traders to curate her own edit and will reveal the looks on her Instagram channel through a series of social media edits. Projects with Alex Jones include a press preview to get an exclusive glimpse at Cotton Traders' latest AW23 collection, including the Alex Jones edit.

Spectacular Line-Up at Camp Bestival Shropshire

The 2-year-old Camp Bestival Shropshire is the younger sister festival to the popular Dorset location, which recently celebrated 15 years of being the UK’s best family festival.

With over 100+ free activities fit for everyone of all ages from roller disco, yoga sessions and paddleboarding, the 3-day festival hosted on the scenic grounds of Weston Park showcases musical performances from Rudimental, Sam Ryder, Confidence Man, Melanie C, The Human Leauge and Primal Scream.

To wrap up the smash hit weekend, festival-goers were treated to a surprise reading from Oscar-winning actress, Kate Winslet who read a chapter from her favourite book on CBeebies Bedtime Stories.

The team were on site to liaise with high-profile press attendees, initiate interviews with performing artists and be on hand to organise new opportunities. Coverage highlights include Evening Standard, Mail Online, BBC News, Huffington Post and Metro.

Victory at Victorious Festival

Over 60,000 festival goers flocked to the Southsea seafront in Portsmouth for a bank holiday weekend of fun to witness performances from John Marr, Alt J, Pete Tong Orchestra, Ben Howard and Katy B to name a few.

After a successful year selling in announcements to press, we were excited to spend the weekend on the sunny seafront, running the on-site press office and securing national and regional coverage. Highlights so far include Evening Standard, The Indipendent, BBC News, ITV News and Clash Magazine.
